Salman Khan has opened a direct line to viewers. The actor launched an official YouTube channel on Friday, October 9, and it crossed 14,000 subscribers in about an hour—before any content calendar or long-form plan was announced.
Khan revealed the page through Instagram Stories with a short video in which he recites the alphabet, then explains the thinking behind the move. The framing signalled that the channel is unlikely to be confined to one format.
What the channel shows so far
The bio is deliberately spare: “Film actor. Artist. Painter. Humanitarian. This is my official channel.” At launch, the page carried ten Shorts—brief, light uploads rather than longer episodes.
There is no schedule yet. On the evidence so far, the channel could become a home for personal updates, glimpses from shoots, promotional clips and material that does not naturally fit a theatrical release or a television appearance.
A familiar playbook, a different star
Khan is entering a space where Hindi film actors already treat YouTube as more than promotional real estate. Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Archana Puran Singh and Farah Khan have used personal channels for vlogs, travel, fitness, cooking and behind-the-scenes footage. South stars such as Allu Arjun and Mohanlal also maintain official pages, and television personalities such as Dipika Kakar, Shoaib Ibrahim, Jannat Zubair and Anushka Sen have built substantial followings with lifestyle videos.
What makes this launch notable is the reach Khan already commands. A star who has spent years reaching millions through film releases and the Bigg Boss stage now has a distribution channel he controls directly.
Where it fits in his calendar
The YouTube page arrives at a crowded moment:
- Bigg Boss 20: Khan is hosting his 15th season of the reality show.
- Maatrubhumi: The Apoorva Lakhia film, earlier titled Battle of Galwan and co-starring Chitrangda Singh, awaits a new release date after a delay.
- SVC63: The Vamshi Paidipally project, reportedly titled Monster and co-starring Nayanthara, is currently set for Eid 2027.
For viewers who follow Hindi cinema closely, the channel offers an early look at how one of its biggest stars adapts to a creator-led medium. The first test is whether Khan settles into Shorts or expands into longer formats once a rhythm forms.
Early subscribers get in before formats are fixed. The broader signal for the industry is structural: a star with a loyal television and theatrical audience is building a first-party video presence at a moment when promotion is increasingly platform-led.
