The Hyderabad pre-release event for Ramayana gathered Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravie Dubey, producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and distributor Dil Raju ahead of the film’s worldwide release on November 5. Yash, the last speaker, made the evening less about scale and more about the people carrying the film.
His striking line was about Ranbir Kapoor: the actor works with “absolutely 0% ego.” Yash paired that with an admission that may reframe how viewers watch the film. The two actors have not shot any scenes together, and their time together has come from travelling for promotional activities.
Three co-stars, three notes of praise
Yash’s stage comments were unusually specific. For Ravie Dubey, he predicted a surprise for audiences and said the role is difficult and holds the cinema together. For Sai Pallavi, he described a “Sita Maa vibe” and a feminine energy that came naturally. For Ranbir Kapoor, he focused on temperament rather than craft, calling him “childlike” and curious in a way that made him rethink his own thinking.
His assessment of the challenge was direct: playing Lord Rama requires an actor to give the character both love and respect, and he said Kapoor has done that.
Why a shared-screen gap matters
An epic such as Ramayana depends on the relationship between its central figures. The disclosure that its two leads have not filmed together makes that relationship a question of planning, editing and individual preparation. It also explains why the Hyderabad event carried more weight than a routine photo call: it may be one of the few public settings where the cast meets before the film opens.
The presence of distributor Dil Raju also signals the commercial weight behind the film’s southern release. The stage was chosen as a pre-release stop ahead of a worldwide opening, giving the event a regional and national dimension at once.
What to watch
This approach can work as deliberate control. It keeps the central pairing out of leaked images and lets the first shared frame arrive in theatres. But it also raises expectations for the on-screen chemistry the story requires.
The next test is the film itself. Yash has elevated the release conversation by praising three co-stars in specific terms, and by revealing a detail about the production that invites curiosity rather than answering it. The real question is whether the first shared scene between Yash and Ranbir Kapoor delivers the bond of the epic.
