Nine days before its Diwali release, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is already moving like the event film of the season. As of 3 pm on October 27, the mythological epic had crossed ₹10.74 crore in gross opening-day advance bookings, with a net figure of roughly ₹9.10 crore after excluding blocked seats, according to Koimoi. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, and is produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
Fourth-biggest pre-sales of 2026
The figure comes with nine days still left before the November 5 release. Ramayana has sold about 1.96 lakh tickets across 5,780 tracked shows in India. That is enough to overtake Mirzapur: The Movie (₹9.19 crore) for the fourth-biggest opening-day pre-sale among Bollywood films in 2026. It now trails only Dhurandhar 2, Drishyam 3 and Border 2, and the gap to third is narrow enough to matter.
- Dhurandhar 2: ₹53 crore
- Drishyam 3: ₹31.65 crore
- Border 2: ₹12.50 crore
- Ramayana: ₹10.74 crore (9 days to go)
- Mirzapur The Movie: ₹9.19 crore
- Awarapan 2: ₹8.57 crore
- Dhamaal 4: ₹5.68 crore
- Cocktail 2: ₹5.57 crore
- Bhooth Bangla: ₹3.32 crore
- Welcome To The Jungle: ₹3.10 crore
The ordering matters because these are opening-day bookings alone, measured days ahead of release. A film that is already fourth on this list with more than a week of sales to go is signalling unusually strong intent, not just awareness.
Where the demand is concentrated
The early map is telling. Of the 11 houseful shows recorded so far, 8 are in Hyderabad and 2 in Ahmedabad. Delhi-NCR remains the top-grossing territory and has crossed ₹2 crore in gross Day 1 advance sales, while Bengaluru is maintaining an edge over Mumbai. Opening-day bookings grew 11.18% in the last 24 hours, a healthy daily clip for a title still nine days from release.
What to watch in the final week
The next milestone is Border 2 at ₹12.50 crore; a sustained run of daily growth would take Ramayana past it well before Diwali. The more important number, however, will be the final pre-sale total and how much of the demand converts into occupancy on release day. Diwali releases often see a late surge from family audiences, and this film’s devotional pull may widen that base beyond the opening-day fan crowd.
For now, the record is clear: Ramayana has entered the top tier of 2026’s advance-sale charts with time to spare.
