SS Rajamouli has given a public vote of confidence to Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana after the release of a new international trailer. The Baahubali and RRR filmmaker shared the two-minute-thirty-six-second trailer on X and called the story one “every Indian storyteller grows up aspiring to tell.” He tagged director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, praising the scale of the film and its cast.
He added that it is a joy to see the epic reach the screen and wrote that “each actor brings these timeless characters to life with depth.” His note closed with the opening date: “Looking forward to 5th November.”
Why the endorsement matters
Rajamouli is one of the few contemporary Indian directors whose name is shorthand for large-canvas mythological storytelling. His support arrives at a useful moment: the first trailer drew criticism online over its visual effects, and the makers have asked audiences to reserve judgement until they watch the full film in theatres.
It is not a review, but it functions like one for an audience deciding whether to book a premium-format ticket. A Ramayana adaptation also arrives with built-in cultural expectations, and this second piece of footage is asking viewers to re-enter the story on the film’s own terms.
What the new trailer shows
The English-language cut opens with a voice describing a world in perfect order before Ravana’s rise breaks it. Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama is heard saying that if he does not stop Ravana, “the world will fall,” while Yash’s Ravana closes on a darker note: “This is just… the beginning.” Kunal Kapoor appears as Lord Indra.
The first trailer debate showed how quickly a visual-effects conversation can become the story. The new trailer’s darker, prophecy-driven framing appears designed to shift attention back to Rama and Ravana as characters rather than individual shots.
The casting gives the epic a pan-Indian shape. Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi each bring a different audience pool to the project, and the five-language release plan is built to match that reach.
Release plan
The film is designed as two parts. Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opens worldwide on 5 November 2026, and the second part follows at Diwali 2027. For Hindi cinema’s record, this is an attempt at a rare scale: a two-part, five-language mythological event in premium formats from day one, with the makers promising “the most immersive 3D cinematic experience ever.”
- Part 1: 5 November 2026, worldwide
- Part 2: Diwali 2027
- Languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam
- Formats: 3D, IMAX and other premium large formats
For readers who keep the record of Hindi cinema, the useful stance is a familiar one: treat a trailer as a first impression, and hold the fuller judgement for the film itself.
