    Randeep Hooda Removed As Ambassador Of UN For His Mayawati Joke

    Actor Randeep Hooda has recently been slammed by netizens after an old video of him making a joke, which social media users termed as casteist and sexist. In the video, the actor is seen telling a joke on politician Mayawati, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Twitter was trending as #ArrestRandeepHooda demanded legal action against the actor. After the controversy, Randeep has been removed as the ambassador of the Convention for the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, the United Nation’s environmental treaty.

    The video clip from an event organised by a media house in media house in 2012 resurfaced when a twitter user shared it. In the video, the actor is seen cracking a joke and then laughing along with the audience.

    The statement reads, “The CMS Secretariat finds the comments made in the video to be offensive, and they do not reflect the values of the CMS Secretariat or the United Nations,” It further added, “Mr. Hooda no longer serves as a CMS ambassador,”

    Randeep was known as the CMS Ambassador for Migratory Species in February 202 for 3 years. CMS is a treaty of the United Nations, The statement revealed that it is separate from UN Secretariat and the UN Environment Programme and the only entity for which Hooda served as a brand ambassador was CMs.

    Other actors like Yuvika Chaudhary and Munmun Dutta also received flak on social media for using casteist slurs in their videos.
