Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have been providing support for India, as it battles a deadly second wave of the covid-19 pandemic. Earlier, the duo managed to raise $ 1 million. The funds were raised for providing India with oxygen plants, isolation centres, covid care and vaccine support. And now, the couples have extended their support for another cause which is hunger and malnutrition.
On Thursday, Priyanka Chopra took to her social media and announced about the same. She also shared a video where both Priyanka and Nick can be seen talking about the fundraiser. Priyanka captioned the video as, We are overwhelmed by the support that has come in & as we continue to raise more to support India’s healthcare infrastructure, we’d also like to extend support to another critical need that has emerged in our battle against Covid, fighting Hunger & malnutrition across India.
Nick mentioned that with the help of people donating to the fundraiser, they have managed to raise over 1 million dollars for India to support oxygen supply for COVID patients, and set up vaccination centres. Sharing updates about the fundraiser, he said that the funds raised so far have helped them arrange for 500 oxygen concentrators, 422 cylinders and helped over 6,000 people get vaccinated. Further, Priyanka announced that they will also be extending their support to another need of the hour, that is, hunger and malnutrition.
The couple have taken this initiative to set up a fundraiser Together For India to help the needy during the crucial time. They also urged everyone to forward and support India amid the crisis. Priyanka and Nick informed that Give India will be helping to serve cooked meals and ration to municipal wards, municipal staff, orphanages, elderly in need, patients and migrant workers.
