Nayyi Navelli crosses ₹11.55 cr opening weekend, tops Haq

Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli collected ₹11.55 crore net over its first weekend, beating Haq's first three days but trailing her bigger hits.

Nayyi Navelli’s ₹11.55 cr weekend tops Haq

Nayyi Navelli has crossed the ₹10 crore mark in its opening weekend, but the real test for Yami Gautam and Adinath Kothare’s comedy-horror is about to begin. The film collected ₹11.55 crore in India net over its first three days, according to Sacnilk, with a slow Friday followed by two steadier days.

Day-by-day growth without a breakout

The weekend arc was positive, if modest. Nayyi Navelli opened at ₹3.25 crore on Friday across 6,281 shows with 11% occupancy. Saturday improved to ₹4 crore from 5,945 shows and 14% occupancy, and Sunday added ₹4.30 crore to close the weekend.

That upward movement suggests some word of mouth, but the theatrical footprint is not expanding aggressively. The film is also sharing auditoriums with Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story, Jailer 2 and Ranabaali, which keeps pressure on the screen count and on the weekday hold.

Where it sits in Yami Gautam’s box-office record

The most useful comparison is not the overall market but Yami Gautam’s own track record.

  • Haq, her previous release, collected ₹8.95 crore in its first three days — so Nayyi Navelli has already moved past it.
  • Article 370 earned ₹22.9 crore in the same window, a much stronger start.
  • OMG 2, where she played a key role, crossed ₹40 crore over its opening weekend.

So the film is running ahead of a weaker title and well behind her stronger theatrical performers. That is the central tension for the film’s economics.

Why Monday matters more than Sunday

For a film that opened at ₹3.25 crore, a satisfying Saturday-to-Sunday pattern is only half the story. The weekday hold — especially Monday’s number against Friday — will show whether audiences are recommending the film or whether the weekend growth was mostly the natural weekend lift. A stable Monday would give the film room to build through the week; a sharp drop would make the path to profitability longer.

Nayyi Navelli, written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma and produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, marks Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan’s Hindi directorial debut. Reviews have been mixed. Hindustan Times said the film “mistakes excess for entertainment and confusion for complexity,” arguing that the material had a workable mythological-comedy core but the execution did not do it justice.

For now, the headline number is an opening weekend of ₹11.55 crore—a mark past one Yami Gautam benchmark and still short of another. The coming weekdays will decide which comparison sticks.
