‘Dynamite’ is the first fully recorded English single of BTS that was released in 2020. Ever since its release, the group has been receiving even more love.  Apart from the praise of many industries around the world, they have also broken many records. One such achievement was with Billboard Japan. Dynamite is the fastest song in its history to cross 600 million streams.

Nonetheless, the song is an upbeat disco-pop song. The song has elements of funk, soul, and bubblegum pop. It takes influence from 1970s music and features snapping handclaps, echoing synths, and celebratory horns.

Subsequent to its release, ‘Dynamite’ received positive reviews from music critics.  The song received appreciation for its catchiness and appealing retro sound. It earned the band their first Grammy nomination, making them the first Korean pop act to be nominated for one.  BTS was awarded for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

Additionally, ‘Dynamite’ was also a commercial success.  The song debuted at no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  Thus, it became the band’s first number-one single in the United States.  Therefore, BTS is the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100. The song sold 265,000 downloads in its first week. This marked the biggest pure sales week since Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ (2017).

Furthermore, ‘Dynamite’ stayed atop the Hot 100 for three total weeks. Also, on Spotify, the track debuted with 7.778 million streams. Additionally, the song peaked at number one on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Meanwhile, the song charted in the top 10 in 25 different countries. The accompanying music video reached 1 billion views on April 12, 2021.

In addition, Bangtan Boys went on to make another record-breaking English track called ‘Butter’. However, many fans still love the popping sounds of ‘Dynamite’. The song came at a time when the world was down with the pandemic.  Hence BTS added a bit of brightness with their music, resulting in enhancement of BTS Army.
