Jailer 2 crosses Rs 10.40 crore in three days

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is building a Hindi-language run that looks stronger than its release footprint. The action drama added Rs 4.25 crore nett on Saturday, its third day, and has now collected Rs 10.40 crore in three days, according to trade estimates.

Saturday’s momentum

The Day 3 figure was about 40% higher than Friday’s number, a sign that the Hindi version is finding an audience in the markets where it is actually playing. The film is being tracked toward a Rs 15 crore opening weekend.

Dussehra gives the run a cushion

Dussehra holidays fall on Monday and Tuesday, and the trade expects that stretch to add another Rs 7–8 crore. If that holds, the extended first week will be over Rs 25 crore nett for the Hindi version. A final total around Rs 40 crore is considered achievable if the film sustains in the following weeks.

The missing national chains

The more revealing part of this run is what is not in the release. Jailer 2 has not opened in the high-collecting national chains, which normally supply the bulk of a big Hindi-dubbed number. The trade assessment reported by Pinkvilla suggests a full chain release could have pushed collections 50–60% higher.

That distribution choice separates a respectable result from a breakout one. It also explains Kollywood’s broader position: while the Hindi theatrical market remains the country’s largest, leaving it partly unserved keeps the industry behind Tollywood and, on some releases, behind Sandalwood’s higher ceiling.

  • Day 3: Rs 4.25 crore, up about 40% from Day 2
  • Three-day total: Rs 10.40 crore nett in Hindi
  • Projection: Rs 15 crore weekend, Rs 25 crore-plus extended first week
  • Upside: a Rs 40 crore final is possible without national chains

The extended holiday period is the immediate variable. If the film adds Rs 7–8 crore across Monday and Tuesday, the first-week number becomes a platform for word of mouth, which is what a content-led action drama needs to hold beyond the holiday frame.

The numbers are a reminder that a film’s ceiling is often set before the first show is sold. For Jailer 2, the question is no longer whether the Hindi version has an audience; it is whether the release gives that audience enough screens to reach the number the film’s hold suggests.
