Hanuman Ansh crosses Rs 321 crore India net on Day 58

Hanuman Ansh crosses Rs 321.73 crore India net on Day 58, holding in its eighth weekend even as Drishyam 3 cuts its screen count.

Hanuman Ansh crosses Rs 321 crore India net

Eight weeks ago, Hanuman Ansh looked like the kind of devotional release that plays for a few days and quietly disappears. It opened on August 7 to Rs 25 lakh, finished its first week with Rs 1.08 crore, and managed only Rs 40 crore in week two against Independence Day releases such as Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2.

That opening is now a footnote. On Day 58, the film added Rs 2.10 crore from 1,339 screens, a modest 6.7% dip from the Rs 2.25 crore it earned on its eighth Friday, according to Sacnilk. Its India net total stands at Rs 321.73 crore; worldwide gross has reached Rs 419.46 crore, including Rs 39.50 crore from overseas.

How the run turned

The break came in the third weekend. Hanuman Ansh crossed Rs 1 crore in a single day for the first time on its third Sunday with Rs 2.50 crore. From there, the weekly numbers tell the story of a word-of-mouth sleeper hit:

  • Week 3: Rs 10.40 crore
  • Week 4: Rs 61 crore
  • Week 5: Rs 90.25 crore, its strongest week
  • Week 6: Rs 80.25 crore
  • Week 7: Rs 44.80 crore

That run held despite a crowded calendar: Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups, Haiwaan, VIBE, Mirzapur: The Movie and The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest all arrived during its mid-run weeks.

Why the eighth weekend matters

The film is now sharing a much smaller footprint with Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3. Its screen count fell from 4,345 on Day 56, when it earned Rs 2.90 crore, to 1,339 on Day 58. Yet the daily hold suggests the audience is still finding it. That is the more important signal for exhibitors and for the film’s producers: the devotional audience is not being drained by the new release.

Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is a biopic of Neem Karoli Baba, with Shobhinaw Satyaa in the lead. Its trajectory is a reminder that in Hindi cinema’s current exhibition economy, a film without stars can still build a long tail if it touches a devoted audience.

This is not the first time a devotional subject has powered an extended run in Hindi cinema, but the scale is unusual for a film that began with so little. A sleeper hit works by compounding trust: small first audiences turn into repeat viewers, then into local word-of-mouth, and only later into a national conversation. Hanuman Ansh‘s weekly numbers, particularly the Rs 90.25 crore fifth week, suggest that pattern took hold well after its release rather than during a front-loaded opening.

What to watch next

Two numbers will define the coming week. The first is Rs 325 crore India net, the milestone now within reach. The second is the Telugu dubbed release planned after the eighth week; a receptive southern audience could extend the film’s lifetime collections further, building on the overseas run that Hombale Films began on September 11.
