    Who is Tommy Lee Jones?

    Tommy Lee Jones is a well-known actor and filmmaker from the United States. In 1993, he won Best Supporting Actor for his work as US Marshal Samuel Gerard in the thriller The Fugitive, for which he was nominated for four Academy Awards.

    He starred in the science fiction film Ad Astra and will next appear in the comedy The Comeback Trail in 2020. Jones has also portrayed historical personalities such as industrialist Howard Hughes in the film The Amazing Race.

    Jones moved to New York to pursue a career as an actor, making his Broadway debut in the 1969 production of A Patriot for Me, in which he played a series of minor roles. His first film role was in Love Story in 1970, in which he played a Harvard student.

    Jones’ first theatrical feature film, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005. Jones’ characters converse in both English and Spanish throughout the film. He won the Best Actor Award in Cannes for his performance. The Good Old Boys, a made-for-television film produced in 1995, was his directorial debut.

    Jones’ career was resurrected in 2007 thanks to two outstanding performances: one as a distraught father investigating the disappearance of his army son in In the Valley of Elah, and the other as a Texas sheriff pursuing down an assassin in the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men. For the former, he was nominated for an Academy Award.
