    3 Idiots is in Bollywood films that were the first to gross 200 crores, and 300 crores at the box office in 2009. In Hong Kong, a dubbed Mandarin version made $3.02 million (INR 15.85 crore), in South Korea, a dubbed Korean version grossed $3.02 million (INR 13.58 crore), in Taiwan, a dubbed Mandarin version earned $629k (INR 2.83 crore) and, a dubbed Mandarin version made $2.91 million (INR 15.37 crore). This movie took 70 days to reach this amazing box office milestone. It ultimately became one of the few Indian films to be successful in East Asian markets at the time, such as China and Japan, with a worldwide total of $3.922 billion ($90 million).

    3 Idiots is a Hindi language coming of age comedy-drama film written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-authored by Abhijat Joshi, alongside screenwriting associate Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film starred Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi in the titular characters, marking their first collaboration since 2006’s Rang De Basanti, with Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, and Omi Vaidya in supporting roles.

    3 Idiots won six Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, as well as three National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film. It was nominated for Best Outstanding Foreign Language Film at the Japan Academy Awards and Best Foreign Film at China’s Beijing International Film Festival. It received the Grand Prize at Japan’s Videoyasan Awards.
