    Rituparna Sengupta to Mimi Chakraborty, Bengali industry mourns the demise of Bappi Lahiri

    Iconic singer Bappi Lahiri‘s untimely demise has left everyone shocked. He was 69. He passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday night. Celebrities have taken to social media platforms and shared their fond memories with Bappi Da.

    Bappi Lahiri was born as Alokesh Lahiri in 1952 in West Bengal. He was the pioneer of disco beats in the music industry and composed popular songs in the Bengali language. Bappi Da made his debut in Hindi films in 1973with Nanha Shikari. While, his first Bengali film was in 1972, Daadu.

    Several celebs from the Bengali film industry, including Rituparna Sengupta, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and others have shared condolences for the singer.

    Rituparna Sengupta shared a set of throwback pictures with Bappi Lahiri and wrote, “The loss of a big brother, a guide like you is something that can never be imagined. Am heartbroken… I lost my family member. You are an inspiration to the whole world. You were full of faith, courage & strength. You’d never be forgotten. Bapida you will be with us forever.”

    Prosenjit Chatterjee called Bappi Lahiri a “gem” and wrote, “We’ve lost another gem… Shocked beyond words! Heartfelt condolences to Bappi da’s family, friends, and well-wishers.”

    “RIP Legend,” Mimi Chakraborty wrote as she shared a picture of Bappi da.

    Bappi Lahiri was brought to the hospital after his health worsened on Tuesday night, Friday 15 where he breathed his last.

    The legendary singer’s family released an official statement after his demise and wrote, “It’s a deeply sad moment for us Our beloved Bappi Da has left for heavenly abode last midnight. The cremation will take on the arrival of Bappa From LA tomorrow mid-morning. We are seeking love and blessings for his soul. We will keep you updated. Mrs .Lahiri, Mr.Gobind Bansal, Bappa Lahiri, Rema Lahiri”
