Fatima Sana Shaikh's Police Company role may grow in part two

Fatima Sana Shaikh is moving deeper into crime action, this time for Ram Gopal Varma’s two-part saga Police Company. She has shot a special appearance in the first instalment, according to a report carried by Mid-day and cited by The Times of India. The appearance is described as brief, but its importance to the narrative is said to outweigh a traditional cameo.

A small set and a sequel-sized secret

Police Company began filming in August, and Shaikh is reported to have shot her portions in September. The production kept the set small: only a limited number of people were present, including her body double. The makers have not formally announced the casting, and the character’s details remain officially under wraps.

The secrecy has a structural logic. Varma has reportedly conceived the film as a two-part story. Shaikh’s role in the first part is said to be limited, while the second part is expected to give her a more substantial track. Her character is connected to a larger strand of the story, which may explain the decision to hold back a formal announcement.

Inside the world of Police Company

Harshvardhan Rane stars as Daya Nayak, the real-life encounter specialist at the centre of the story. The film is expected to follow the Mumbai Police Detection Unit’s confrontation with the underworld in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The title points to an institutional story, but the casting of a named officer keeps a single protagonist in focus.

For Shaikh, the project extends a turn toward darker material. She was recently seen in the crime drama Hunkkaar: The Roar, a six-episode series led by Aneet Padda. The series follows 17-year-old Meenu Rawat, who seeks justice after being abused by Baapji, the spiritual leader who runs her school. Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh Soin, alongside Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as advocate Chinmay Bhalerao and Arjun Mathur as Amitabh Sinha.

Why the quiet casting matters

For Hindi cinema watchers, an unannounced special appearance is a production decision more than a publicity one. If Shaikh’s character is a bridge between two films, the makers are trading the immediate visibility of a casting announcement for the ability to reveal that link inside the story. The risk is that a known face stays underused in part one; the reward is a sequel hook that marketing does not have to explain in advance.

  • Fatima Sana Shaikh shot her portions in September; filming began in August.
  • The role is described as brief but important, not a conventional cameo.
  • Harshvardhan Rane plays encounter specialist Daya Nayak.
  • The film is planned as a two-part saga, with Shaikh expected to have a larger track in part two.
  • No formal casting announcement has been made yet.

For now, Police Company is best followed through official confirmation rather than set reports. The casting, if confirmed, signals that Shaikh’s presence is being treated as a long-term narrative investment rather than a one-film appearance.
