Who was the guy looking for Terry in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

More Charles Manson scenes were shot for Once Upon a Time in…Hollywood and they’re now available courtesy of Tuesday’s Blu-ray release, which includes several deleted scenes from Quentin Tarantino’s film. An extended introduction to Charles Manson, played by Damon Herriman in the Sony picture, is one of such scenes.

In the film, Manson searches the Hollywood Hills house of Sharon Tate and her husband, Roman Polanski, seeking previous residents Terry Melcher, a music producer, and his buddy, Beach Boys member Dennis Wilson. Jay Sebring (Emile Hirsch) informs him that the Polanskis have moved in and directs him to speak with the home’s owner, Paul Barabuta, who lives nearby.

However, in the Blu-ray extras, Manson is seen talking to Barabuta, trying to figure out where Terry and Dennis have gone. Barbuda says he doesn’t know. In truth, Manson went to the Tate residence looking for those folks; as a budding musician, Manson sought to get his music recorded by the Beach Boys.

The finest part of the deleted scene is when Manson gets back into his (Twinkie) vehicle to leave, but glances up to see Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) trying to fix his TV antenna on the roof of Rick Dalton’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) house.

Manson waves towards Booth (as shown in the teaser) before launching into a highly agitated gibberish diatribe and exclaiming, ‘Fuck you, Jack!’ When he was being interviewed by the press, the real Manson was known to act strangely and to go off on tangents.

Once upon a time, there was a time when… Best film, best actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), best-supporting actor (Brad Pitt), best director (Quentin Tarantino), and best screenplay were among the five Golden Globe nominations for Hollywood (Tarantino).
