Which is the upcoming Pixar movie in 2022?

Turning Red,’ directed by Oscar winner Domee Shi (Pixar short BAO) and produced by Lindsey Collins, will be released in Spring 2022.

Turning Red is a computer-animated coming-of-age fantasy comedy film created by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios and set to be released on Disney+ by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Domee Shi (in her feature directorial debut) directed the film, which was based on a screenplay by Shi and Julia Cho.

Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh, Ava Morse, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Hyein Park, Orion Lee, Wai Ching Ho, and James Hong lend their voices to the film. It’s the first Pixar film directed entirely by a woman.

On March 11, 2022, Turning Red will be available on Disney+ in areas where the service is offered. In areas where the streaming service is not available, it will be released theatrically. The film was supposed to be released in theatres all around the world, but it was postponed owing to more COVID-19 pandemic disruption caused by the rapid spread of the Omicron strain.

The film follows Meilin ‘Mei’ Lee, a confident 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian who is torn between becoming her mother’s loyal daughter and the chaos of puberty. It is set in Toronto between 2002 and 2003. She ‘poofs’ into a gigantic red panda whenever she gets too enthusiastic or stressed.

The film’s score will be composed by Ludwig Göransson, who will be composing his first animated film score. Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell will develop songs for the fictional boy band 4*Town, which will play them in the film.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures had planned to release Turning Red in theatres in the United States on March 11, 2022. After both Soul (2020) and Luca (2021) were awarded direct-to-digital releases on Disney+ in response to the COVID-19 epidemic, a Pixar source assured the picture will receive a theatrical release on June 17, 2021.
