The sequel to 2018’s A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place Part II follows the family from the first film as they continue to explore and survive in a post-apocalyptic world populated by blind aliens with acute hearing.


John Krasinski wrote, produced, and directed the picture for Paramount Pictures. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe return from the first film, while Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou join the ensemble; Krasinski appears in a new flashback sequence from the first film. Following the box financial and critical success of the first film, Paramount Pictures began work on a sequel in April 2018. Krasinski began work on the screenplay in August of the next year, and his comeback to directing was announced in February of the following year.

A Quiet Place Part II

From June to September 2019, production took place in Western New York. The sequel was written by Krasinski, based on characters created by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. The sequel cost $55–61 million to make, more than three times the original’s $17 million budget.

The film had its global premiere in New York City on March 8, 2020, and it was theatrically released in the United States on May 28, 2021, after being postponed for nearly a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 45 days after its theatrical release, it was made available to stream on Paramount+.

The film broke multiple box office records, including the COVID-19 pandemic’s highest opening weekend, grossing $297.4 million worldwide. Critics loved the tale and the addition of Murphy’s character Emmett, and it earned excellent reviews.
