Kajol Mukherjee Devgn, also known as Kajol, is an Indian film actress who was born on August 5, 1974. She has been called “one of the most successful actresses in the history of Hindi film” by the media, and she has received numerous awards, including six Filmfare Awards. The Government of India awarded her the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest civilian honor, in 2011.
Kajol Mukherjee, the daughter of Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee, made her acting debut while still in school with Bekhudi (1992). She dropped out of school and got her first commercial hit with Baazigar (1993), in which she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Following her breakout performance in Yeh Dillagi (1994), she starred alongside Shahrukh Khan in a number of blockbusters, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).
Kajol took a break from full-time acting after shooting Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… in 2001, which earned her a third Filmfare Award, and continued to perform sparingly for the next two decades. She went on to star in films like U Me Aur Hum (2008), We Are Family (2010), My Name Is Khan (2010), and Dilwale after making a triumphant comeback with the romantic thriller Fanaa (2006). Kajol reunited with Shah Rukh Khan for the eighth time in Rohit Shetty’s action-romance Dilwale (2015) after a five-year break.
