Rebel is an American legal comedy-drama television series created by Krista Vernoff that follows Erin Brockovich’s life. It premiered on April 8, 2021, and concluded on June 10, 2021, on ABC. The show was canceled in May 2021 after its first season.

On October 31, 2019, ABC committed to a put pilot commitment for Rebel. On January 23, 2020, a pilot order was issued. On September 16, 2020, ABC gave the project a series order. Tara Nicole Weyr directed the pilot, which was written by Krista Vernoff. Erin Brockovich, John Davis, John Fox, Andrew Stearn, and Alexandre Schmitt were set to executive produce the show alongside Vernoff. The production companies for the series were planned to be made up of.

The project was supposed to be produced by Davis Entertainment, ABC Signature, and Sony Pictures Television. On January 25, 2021, executive producers Marc Webb and Adam Arkin were appointed. On May 14, 2021, ABC announced that the show would be canceled after its first season. It was stated on July 15, 2021, that the show was in talks to relocate to IMDb TV for a possible second season. A month later, the show’s creator, Vernoff, announced that there will be no sequel.

On September 20, 2020, Kevin Zegers and Sam Palladio joined the cast as Segal’s principal antagonists. On January 25, 2021, Dan Bucatinsky was cast in recurring roles. On February 9, 2021, Mary McDonnell, Adam Arkin, Matthew Glave, and Jalen Thomas Brooks were cast as recurring characters. On February 25, 2021, Abigail Spencer was added to the cast in a recurring role.

On a review, the series has a 38 percent approval rating, based on 8 critic reviews with an average rating of 6/10. Metacritic gave the series a weighted average score of 57 out of 100 based on seven reviewer ratings, indicating mixed or poor reviews.’
