When a Stranger Calls is a psychological horror-thriller film directed by Simon West and written by Jake Wade Wall that was released in 2006 in the United States. Camilla Belle, Brian Geraghty, Katie Cassidy, and Clark Gregg feature in the picture.
Tommy Flanagan and Lance Henriksen portrayed Tommy Flanagan and Lance Henriksen, respectively, as a babysitter who begins to receive threatening phone calls from an unknown stranger. The film is a remake of Fred Walton’s 1979 horror film of the same name, which became a cult classic for its first 20 minutes, which this remake expands to a full-length movie.

On February 3, 2006, the picture was released in theatres. Critics uniformly despised it, yet it was a moderate box office success, collecting $67 million worldwide on a budget of $15 million.

When A Stranger Calls

When a Stranger Call was first announced for development by Screen Gems in August 2004, with Jake Wade Wall composing the script. A remake of the original film as well as a sequel titled When a Stranger Returns were planned by Screen Gems. The film was shot in Vancouver, Canada, from January 1 to February 28, 2005.

Signal Hill was utilized to simulate the carnival in the film, while Bellarmine-Jefferson High School was used to portray the high school in the film. For the road sequences, Running Springs was selected as the filming location. Culver Studios in Culver City, California is home to the house featured in the film.

With $21.6 million in its first weekend, the film debuted at the top of the box office. The film then grossed $9.1 million in its second weekend and $5 million the following weekend. The picture went on to gross a total of $67.1 million worldwide, with domestic grosses of $47.9 million and international grosses of $19.2 million.
