    How is the film Host?

Rob Savage’s Host is a supernatural horror film set to be released in 2020 on a computer screen in the United Kingdom. It is presented as a computer screen film and is based on a screencast of a Zoom video conference. It stars Haley Bishop, Jemma Moore, Emma Louise Webb, Radina Drandova, and Caroline Ward and tells the story of a group of friends who try to flee a terrible supernatural entity that was accidentally born during a séance.

After a brief prank skit starring a few members of the Host cast went viral on social media, Savage expanded the concept into a feature-length film shot for 12 weeks using Zoom software during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cameras, lighting, and stunts were all set up by the cast and crew themselves.

Host is an independent film that will be released on July 30, 2020, exclusively through Shudder. It earned mostly excellent reviews from critics, who appreciated the film’s social anxiety themes, jump scares, and acting ensemble chemistry. On review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, it has a perfect score of 100 percent, and it was named one of Time magazine’s ’17 Great Movies You May Have Missed This Summer.’

Rob Savage developed a short video in early 2020 that served as the inspiration for the film. While on a group video chats with others, Savage was exploring weird sounds in his attic. It was intended as a hoax because the others were unaware that a terrifying face would appear on the tape, and Savage posted the film online, where it quickly went viral.

Savage liked the format so much that he decided to use it in a feature picture. After filmmakers approached him about filming a lengthier feature after viewing the viral video, he remarked that the short’s success enabled him to create Host.
