DYK Karan Johar Signed the Entire Cast of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham In One Day

Ace filmmaker Karan Johar recently graced the singing reality show Indian Idol 12.  During the episode, Karan Johar was asked by Sonu Kakkar how he signed the megastar cast of K3G.  Karan Johar related the entire event in the most interesting manner.

The filmmaker revealed that he signed the entire cast in one single day. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’s star cast included Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor. Recalling the eventful day, KJo stated he met the entire star cast on the same day.  Karan Johar approached Amitabh Bachchan in the first place.  Also he narrated how he approached Jaya Bachchan after getting confirmation from Big B.

KJo informed, “I first went to Amit Ji’s house, respect wise, Jaya aunty was also there as well. She didn’t know why I was visiting Amit uncle. I narrated the script, he said, ‘Of course, I’m doing this. I then walked out of the house. From the gate, I called Jaya aunty asking her to meet me. She said, ‘Arre but you were just here.’ I said, ‘I came to meet Amit Ji. But now, I want to officially meet you.’ I went back in and offered the film.”

Elaborating further, Karan Johar informed that SRK said, ‘You don’t have to narrate it to me, I’m doing the film.’ We have that brother-like bond.” Back then Kajol was newly married and hence, KJo was unsure if she would agree. But he still went ahead and met her. KJo added, “Two minutes after I narrated the script and her character, she broke down. She said, ‘I cannot make anybody else do this film. I will delay my decisions of life but I will do this film,”

Hrithik Roshan was signed for K3G even before the release of his debut movie, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. At last, he signed his closest pal and the most popular character of the movie, Poo, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Karan Johar reached Kareena’s  residence at 10 pm on that day.
