The Industry has constructed 100,000 planes for the Allies during World War II, swiftly establishing themselves as a military contractor. In addition, Stark Industries aided the Strategic Scientific Reserve in their war against HYDRA.

Tony later discovers that the Palladium core of his Arc reactor is slowly poisoning him and appoints Pepper Potts as Chairman and CEO of Stark Industries, though she resigns once Tony discovers a treatment for the palladium poisoning that was killing him. Pepper was re-hired as CEO after the Battle of New York.
