Social media users have been sharing an old video of actor Aayush Sharma discussing how his wife Arpita Khan is frequently criticized on the basis of her appearance. This video was taken from when he gave a TEDx lecture and discussed how his wife was frequently harassed on social media. Aayush noted that she receives comments about how dark her complexion is, how overweight she is, and how she should dress. The brother-in-law of Salman Khan stated that he is pleased of Arpita for feeling so at ease in her own skin.
In the old video, Aayush said, “My wife is constantly trolled for being overweight. She is a constant target, that being a celebrity she shouldn’t be so fat, and she should dress a certain way. And she is dark in color. Every time her picture comes, people are quick to remind her that she is dark in color. Today, beauty is no longer internal, no one wants to know how beautiful you are as a human being, but people want to see you beautiful externally.”
He added, “But I am proud of my wife because she is comfortable in her own skin. She is proud of who she is and behind closed doors, she tells me, ‘I am not a celebrity, I have done nothing to be a celebrity. I am never going to be in front of the camera, so I am going to be who I am, I am going to live my life the way I am going to live my life.”
For the uninitiated, Aayush and Arpita Khan were married on November 18, 2014, and they are the delighted parents of two children, a son Ahil Sharma and a daughter Ayat. The pair most recently gained notoriety for hosting a star-studded Eid party at their residence that was attended by Kangana Ranaut, Sonakshi Sinha, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kartik Aaryan, Preity Zinta, and others.
