    Sooryavanshi: Akshay Kumar film is a ‘Diwali gift to the film industry’

    After a considerable scuffle between the makers of  Sooryavanshi and the multiplexes, the film has finally been released.  The film is being screened in multiplexes and single screens across India.

    Reportedly, the producers of the Akshay Kumar starrer film demanded a 60% revenue share in the first week.  Furthermore, they also told theatre owners to provide a maximum number of shows to their films. The terms that both parties have now agreed to are still not out.

    Subsequent to the resolve between Multiplexes and the filmmakers, Rohit Shetty’s Instagram post read, “Last battle won! Sooryavanshi releasing across all multiplexes and single screens all over the country on November 5. My audience who have been waiting eagerly can book their tickets now! Going home for the first meal of the day! And by the way, Happy Diwali to the whole film industry.”

    Nonetheless, the Rohit Shetty directorial was initially scheduled for a release in March 2020.  This was delayed for over 19 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The film introduces the third character of Shetty’s cop world. Previously, Ajay Devgn’s Singham and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba have been established as backbones in this category. Ajay and Ranveer have cameos in Sooryavanshi.

    The film Sooryavanshi portrays Akshay Kumar as a cop, who tries to stop a terrorist group from attacking Mumbai. The film’s supporting cast also features Jaaved Jaaferi, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Jackie Shroff, Sikander Kher, Niketan Dheer among others.

    Earlier, the makers have released a few songs from the album of the film.  So far, they have gotten a good response from the audience. Tracks like ‘Aila Re Aillaa’, ‘Mere Yaaraa’ and ‘Najaa’ are already popular among audiences.

    During the trailer launch of Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar said, “It feels good when I get an opportunity to wear the police uniform. We all are lucky to get opportunities where we play such great roles.”

    Meanwhile, producer Karan Johar maintained, “This is the first time that Indian cinema has a universe like this where you have the coalition of three mega movie stars.”
