    Pooja Bhatt reacts on Supreme Court’s proposed guidelines on OTT regulations

    Actor and Director Pooja Bhatt commented that the guidelines should not impact story and narratives in the OTT. As per latest directive of Supreme court to centre, OTT are required to be screened before release. Supreme court has also advised centre to release fresh guidelines post controversies with respect to web series “Tandav” and “Mirzapur”. 

    While the OTT regulations proposed by the Supreme Court are yet to be finalized and enforced, there had been mixed reactions from the industry and viewers.

    Pooja Bhatt’s has also recently stepped into OTT with her debut show , Bombay Begum . It is about the ambitions and aspirations of five women from varied socio-economic background.  The storyline deals with the journey of these woken through different walks of life in contemporary Mumbai. When asked about her views on the upcoming OTT regulations Pooja Bhatt has casually commented that regulations are not new to the entertainment industry.  Film makers  have been dealing with regulations all along.

    Pooja feels that utimately it is the intention of the filmmaker that matters most.  As regards her own productions she is her own censor board and all her work is thoroughly scanned by Pooja before release.  Pooja Bhatt is determined to stand by for whatever seems right to her.  As far as regulations are considered, instead of binding they inspire the creative team to come up with novel ways to present their stories.

    Apart from Pooja Bhatt many other filmmakers and artists have expressed their views. As per them too many rules and regulations are detrimental to the creativity.  it remains to be seen how the upcoming regulations finally affect the contents of streaming platforms and their viewers.
