Karan Johar intends to make his Independence Day films a regular feature. As per sources, the producer will make one film based on patriotism every year. The movie will be released closer to Independence day.
Reportedly Karan has stated, “The idea now is to produce a film about an unsung national hero every year.” Last year, Karan Johar produced Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The film was about the first female Indian Air Force pilot. The film was highly appreciated by viewers and critics.
Subsequent to the success of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, this year too a patriotic film was produced by Karan Johar. The film “Shershaah” is about Paramvir Chakra winner Vikram Batra. The film was released during independence day weekend this year. Although the film clashed with “Bhuj”, another film of the same genre, “Shershaah” is received well by the viewers.
Presently, Karan Johar is on to his third film on a national hero. Allegedly, the film is a biopic, based on the merits of Usha Mehta. The film will be directed by Kannan Iyer of Ek Thi Dayan fame. Furthermore, Karan Johar is compiling the names and achievements of other war heroes and freedom fighters.
