Ali Abbas Zafar wrote and directed the 2014 Indian Hindi-language action drama film Gunday, which was produced by Aditya Chopra. The lead characters are Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Irrfan Khan.
Irshad Kamil wrote the lyrics for the music, which was produced by Sohail Sen. The production design was performed by Rajat Poddar, and the cinematography was handled by Aseem Mishra.
The movie’s tracks were among the most popular in India in 2014, with the songs ‘Tune Maari Entriyaan,’ ‘Jashn-E-Ishqa,’ and ‘Asalaam-E-Ishqum’ hitting various rankings in India across several platforms. The Howrah Bridge was used to film the opening song “Jash-e-Ishqa,” as well as various scenes at the Jagannath Ghat and the Maniktala fish market.
Critics gave Gunday a mixed response. Based on reviews, a review aggregator gave the picture a 60% approval rating, with an average rating of 5.5 out of 10. Gunday is the tenth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2014 and the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in February. It broke opening day records in various locations at the time of its release, grossing ₹150 million on its first day. The film grossed about ₹980 million in India during its theatrical run, with an extra $3.4 million from overseas, for a worldwide total of ₹1.2 billion.
