‘I apologise,’ says Akshay Kumar, who is stepping down as elaichi’s brand ambassador

Akshay Kumar, a Bollywood actor, has resigned as a brand ambassador for a well-known elaichi company with whom he had recently inked a deal, and announced the news on his official Twitter account. For those who are unaware, the actor was recently featured in an elaichi advertising for a cigarette company. In his post, Akshay apologised to his followers for promoting the company and promised to contribute a fee to the charitable organisation.

In his tweet, Akshay Kumar wrote, “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes.”

In the meantime, on the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Manushi Chhillar’s film Prithviraj. He’s also working on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Oh My God 2, and Gorkha. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which will be released on December 22, 2023, also stars Tiger Shroff. Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, will collide with the film.
