Priyanka Chopra Jonas is an Indian actress, model, and film producer who was born on July 18, 1982. She is one of India’s highest-paid and most popular celebrities, having won the Miss World contest in 2000. She has also won plenty of awards, including two National Film Awards and five Filmfare’s. In 2016, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri, while Time named her one of the world’s 100 most important individuals, and Forbes named her one of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women in the following two years.
Despite her desire to study aeronautical engineering, PeeCee accepted offers to join the Indian film industry as a result of her pageant victories, making her debut in Tamil film Thamizhan (2002). After that, she made her Bollywood debut with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in 2003. Chopra is also a vocal advocate for gender equality, the gender wage gap, and feminism, as well as other social causes such as the environment and women’s rights. She has been a UNICEF member since 2006, and in 2010 and 2016, she was named the national and worldwide UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights, respectively.
In May 2018, Priyanka began dating American singer Nick Jonas. Nick proposed to her in Crete, Greece, on July 19, 2018, a day after her birthday. Chopra and Jonas engaged in a Punjabi Roka ceremony in Mumbai in August 2018. In December 2018, the couple married in traditional Hindu and Christian ceremonies at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace.
She signed a talent holding deal with ABC Studios and was later cast as Alex Parrish in the American thriller series Quantico. Chopra’s only release in 2020 was Robert Rodriguez’s Netflix kids superhero flick We Can Be Heroes. In 2009, Chopra started writing an opinion column for the Hindustan Times. She contributed 50 columns to the publication. She has a close relationship with her family, including her younger brother, Siddharth, and shares an apartment with them on the same floor.
