    Bappi Lahiri Demise: Bappa Lahiri returns to India to perform last rites

    Legendary singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri passed away on Tuesday night, February 15. He was 69. Bappi Da had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight.

    His son Bappa Lahiri along with his family has returned to Mumbai from Los Angeles to perform his father’s last rites.

    The last rites will be performed today at around 10 am at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Mumbai.

    Talking about how the iconic singer passed away, his son-in-law Gobind Bansal shared, “He had been admitted in the hospital for three weeks but was discharged and was back home. He also had his dinner last night at around 8:30-9 pm. But within half an hour of having his dinner, he got a heart attack. His pulse rate had gotten low. He was rushed to the hospital and the doctors declared at 11:44 that he is no more.”

    Bappi Lahiri ruled the Indian music industry for several years and had crooned popular hits such as Raat Baaki, Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Humko Aaj Kal Hain Intezaar, Yaad Aa Raha Hai, I am a Disco Dancer, Pag Ghoongroo, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, TaakiTaaki, Tamma Tamma, among several others.

    The singer is survived by his wife Chitrani Lahiri and two children- son Bappa Lahiri and daughter Reema Lahiri.
