After Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing, ‘Bollywood’ in the opinion of Swara Bhasker

In response to the boycott of the Bollywood trend, Swara Bhasker stated that the current tendency is to spread hatred toward Bollywood, which gathered traction after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing.

Bollywood is presently going through a phase where netizens adhere to the boycott culture for nearly every big-budget movie. Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, set the pattern, and Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa continued it. Many Bollywood stars have spoken candidly on the subject.

Swara Bhasker responded to the Bollywood boycott movement in a recent interview with India Today, saying that the current tendency is to spread hatred toward Bollywood, which gathered traction after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing.

Regarding the boycott movements, Swara Bhasker noted a widespread movement on Twitter and other social media that seeks to denigrate Bollywood and slam it with insults. Because these people don’t realize that Bollywood provides a living for many others, the actress made the comment that she finds it petty and revolting. The Veere Di Wedding actress said, in further discussion of the Bollywood vs. South issue, that not all films released in the South are successful. “You’re hearing about those that are becoming a hit. That said, even Bollywood has had Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Gangubai in the last year. I feel let’s acknowledge the slump is happening across. I think there’s no one reason but there are many reasons.”

Swara Bhasker continued by saying that following COVID, many were reluctant to leave their homes. She also said how Bollywood had been portrayed as a very dark area that is mainly about drugs, booze, and sex after the untimely and tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput. “Unfortunately, Bollywood is being discredited. There are people who just don’t like Bollywood.”

On the job front, Swara Bhasker will next be seen in the Vinod Bachchan and Kamal Pandey-produced film Jahaan Chaar Yaar, which also stars Meher Vij, Pooja Chopra, and Shikha Talsania.
