Actor Sonu Sood recently filed an intervention application in a Covid-19 related plea regarding the alleged distribution of the antiviral drugs Remdesivir and Tocilizumab by celebrities.
The actor recently denied that he is distributing anti-covid-19 drugs and asked the Bombay High Court that he was only helping out those who need help during the crucial time. He said, “he has been helping people since the beginning of the pandemic and that people started reaching out to him for help with drugs like Remdesivir and Tocilizumab.”According to the report, the actor has alleged that the petitioner is trying to “destroy his philanthropic work and is trying to defame him.”
Sonu Sood revealed that “lack of coordination between the places where the medicines were available and those who needed them, he decided to be a conduit between the two, i.e. connecting bona fide needy people with the places where the aforesaid drugs were available.”
The High Court, hearing a public Interest Litigation seeking probe into the distribution of Remdesvir and drugs by politicians and celebrities like Sonu Sood, allowed the actor to intervene in the PIL.
The distribution of medicines, as well as oxygen cylinders by politicians and celebrities at a time when the government itself was finding it difficult to keep up with the demand.
