Koffee With Karan 9 is expanding its usual two-guest couch. A new promo for the upcoming episode has Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan as the main guests, with Arjun Kapoor entering midway as a special guest. The episode is scheduled to stream on JioHotstar on Wednesday, October 28, at 7 PM.
What the promo reveals
The teaser plays up the candid banter the show is known for. Karan Johar warns that the guests will show a less restrained side of themselves, and the conversation turns to the period when he reportedly stopped speaking to both Janhvi and Varun.
Varun makes the point theatrically, standing on the table and insisting viewers should know who the two people were. Karan says he felt hurt by both, while Janhvi jokes that she gained weight during the silence. Varun then accuses the host of being dramatic, comparing him to Amitabh Bachchan’s Yashvardhan Raichand in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Why Arjun’s presence matters
Arjun’s appearance is the promo’s unexpected turn. He and Janhvi previously shared the couch in Koffee With Karan Season 6 in 2018, so the new episode becomes a small sibling reunion on camera. It also brings Varun into that history: during a rapid-fire segment, Varun names Arjun as the person he would approach for advice on career and marriage.
The trio’s shared Bollywood associations give the episode more texture. Janhvi and Varun have appeared together in Bawaal and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Their individual filmographies, Janhvi’s 2018 debut in Dhadak and Varun’s 2012 debut in Student of the Year, are familiar to regular Hindi cinema viewers.
The episode in season context
Season 9 began on October 14, 2026, with Salman Khan and a special appearance by Karisma Kapoor, followed by Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda. The Janhvi-Varun episode continues the season’s pairing of actors with overlapping professional and personal histories.
- Arjun Kapoor joins Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan as a special guest.
- The promo teases a conversation about Karan Johar’s reported rift with the two main guests.
- Varun names Arjun for career and marriage advice in the rapid-fire segment.
- Janhvi references Ravi Kishan’s Instagram account and imitates a punchline.
- The episode streams October 28 at 7 PM on JioHotstar.
For viewers who follow Hindi cinema, the appeal is less about any single revelation than about format: Koffee With Karan tends to turn personal history into a game. The full episode will show how much of the reported disagreement is unpacked and how much stays as banter.
