Shah Rukh Khan’s next major theatrical release has its international distributor. Phars Film will release the Siddarth Anand-directed King in cinemas outside India on December 24, the same day the film opens domestically through Pen Marudhar, according to Deadline. Red Chillies Entertainment produces with Marflix Pictures.
A reunion that comes with built-in recognition
The title marks the first Khan-Anand collaboration since Pathaan, the 2023 blockbuster that reasserted the star’s commercial pull. Placing the new film in the same creative pairing gives exhibitors and distributors a familiar selling point, even before the campaign’s details are fully laid out.
- Domestic distribution: Pen Marudhar
- International distribution: Phars Film
- Producers: Red Chillies Entertainment with Marflix Pictures
- Director: Siddarth Anand
Why the overseas partner matters
Phars Film Chairman Ahmad Golchin said the company considers the deal a “major achievement” and pointed to Khan’s status as a “global icon.” Red Chillies Entertainment CEO Venky Mysore said Phars’s “extensive international reach and market expertise” would strengthen the film’s global prospects.
The arrangement keeps King‘s India and international runs linked rather than staggered. For Hindi cinema, the overseas window has become a substantial part of a tentpole’s total business, and a day-and-date opening can help convert global anticipation into a single, concentrated box-office event.
Phars Film’s release announcement described the project as a mix of “edge-of-the-seat thrills, large-scale spectacle and star power” and said it is already generating buzz. That positioning leans on the spectacle-plus-star formula that has driven the year’s biggest Hindi releases.
The calendar around it
The holiday corridor is already crowded. Ramayana: Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, opens November 5 with Sony Pictures Entertainment handling international territories. King follows in the Christmas window, after a year in which releases such as Dhurandhar: The Revenge have strengthened the Hindi box office, according to the original report.
Audiences outside India now have a firm date rather than a rough window: December 24, day-and-date with the domestic release. For the industry, the announcement fills in the distribution map for one of the season’s most closely watched titles.
