”He has really worked hard to be where he is”: Nikhil Advani on Bhuvan Bam

In a recent interview, Filmmaker Nikhil Advani has expressed strong admiration for Bhuvan Bam, highlighting the sincerity, hard work, and instinct he brings to his performances. Speaking about directing him in The Revolutionaries, Advani drew parallels between Bhuvan and some of the industry’s most seasoned stars, noting a shared clarity about what connects with audiences.

Nikhil said, ”Bhuvan is my favourite. He is so sincere and hardworking. He has really worked hard to be where he is and I have seen that in people like Salman, Akshay and Shahrukh. That is why they know what works for them. There were times, especially the first couple of days for The Revolutionaries, I was trying to get Bhuvan to play my Rash Behari Bose and I could feel that I was literally constricting him. So I went upto him and said how would you play it and he did something which was so different from what was inside my head. So I said go for it. After that I didnt direct him. I said you know what you’re doing, just take off from there. He understands the 10 million people who follow him”

Advani’s comparison places Bhuvan alongside names like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Shah Rukh Khan, artists known for their deep understanding of audience sensibilities. His experience on set also reflects a growing shift, where creators from digital platforms are not just transitioning into mainstream storytelling, but reshaping it with their own voice and intuition.
