After four seasons, Mismatched may return as a film

Prajakta Koli says she and Rohit Saraf struggled to say goodbye after four seasons of Mismatched, and a film adaptation is not off the table.

After four seasons, Mismatched may get a film encore

As Mismatched closes its four-season run on Netflix, Prajakta Koli is leaving the door open for a different kind of next chapter: a film. Koli, who has played Dimple for seven years, said she and co-star Rohit Saraf found this goodbye harder than the previous ones, and that a movie version is not being dismissed. “Yes, you never know, we may come back as a movie,” she said in a conversation reported by The Times of India.

A seven-year role ends, maybe not for good

Koli told Hindustan Times that each earlier season ended with tears and the expectation of a return; this time, the sadness was harder to set aside. During the shoot, she said, she and Saraf would look at each other from across the room and dread the final day. That reluctance became a running conversation. “Every time on shoot, me and Rohit would discuss that it doesn’t deserve to end,” she added.

The streaming-to-screen test

The conversation has a precedent. Hindi titles such as Mirzapur have already carried a story from the small screen to the big screen, and Mismatched is now being discussed in the same frame. For a young-skewing romance, that would be a meaningful test: can characters built over multiple seasons hold a story beyond the service where viewers first met them?

Why audience numbers could decide it

Koli’s clearest statement of hope is also a metric. She said she wants the audience to watch the season so heavily that “the makers are forced to make more.” On a streamer, that line is effectively a demand signal: if the fourth season performs, the conversation about a film has somewhere to go. No film is confirmed, and the responsible reading is that this is an option being kept warm.

What is on the calendar is the fourth season. Created by Gazal Dhaliwal, directed by Divyang Thakkar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, it returns with Koli and Saraf in the lead. Vidya Malvade, Rannvijay Singha, Ahsaas Channa, Taaruk Raina, Muskkaan Jaferi and Abhinav Sharma are also reprising their roles.

  • Confirmed: Season four returns on Netflix with the original leads and ensemble.
  • Possible: A future film has not been ruled out by Koli.
  • Deciding factor: Viewership strong enough to justify another chapter.

What to do with the hint

For fans, the actionable part of Koli’s comment is simple: watch the fourth season when it arrives and make the case through the platform’s own numbers. For everyone else, the takeaway is that a farewell interview is not the same as a franchise decision, especially in Hindi streaming, where the line between series and film keeps blurring.
