Producer and director Karan Johar has finally responded to the postponement of his next movie, Dhadak 2, which is now scheduled to open in theatres on August 1. Johar, who spoke at the trailer launch event, said he fully supports the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which took its time reviewing the film because of its delicate subject.
The film tells a moving tale of love between two people from different castes, one that is based in social reality. Johar said he never allows his artistic expression to be constrained by fear of the repercussions, and he remained calm about the delay. He declared, “I’ve never been concerned about consequences because that limits you as an artist.” He continued, quoting a strong line from the movie.” He went on to quote a strong line from the movie, saying, “If you have a choice, then fight,” and claimed that one of the most effective ways to inspire change and reflection is through storytelling.
The CBFC’s handling of the film was commended by the director, who described their strategy as “compassionate and understanding.” “They fully grasped the message we were attempting to convey with the movie. We were safeguarding the sensitivity, and they were safeguarding it. “We appreciated their viewpoint,” Johar remarked. He asserts that the board and the filmmakers collaborated to make sure the film’s message was conveyed in an appropriate manner.
Karan Johar also underlined that the purpose of Dhadak 2 is to jolt viewers out of their complacency. “It is a story that makes you wake up and think,” he said, adding that these kinds of problems are not unique to small towns but rather occur everywhere. These subjects represent the actual state of affairs in our day and age. These things can occasionally take time. However, everything worthwhile takes time to manifest, and this movie is well worth the wait.
