Nayyi Navelli unveils The World of Mohini theme song

The G.V. Prakash Kumar composition arrives a week before the October 16 release and positions Yami Gautam Dhar's Mohini at the centre.

Nayyi Navelli’s theme song sets its mischievous tone

Nayyi Navelli has added a third song to its pre-release campaign. The theme track, The World of Mohini, arrives a week before the film’s 16 October theatrical release and puts Yami Gautam Dhar’s Mohini at the centre of a folk-fantasy family story.

A theme as tonal shorthand

The track is composed and produced by G. V. Prakash Kumar and presented by Zee Music Company in association with Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow Production. It follows the earlier releases Bhabhi Tabaahi and Phata Patakha, which means the film’s musical identity is now being built across several tracks rather than depending on one signature number.

Director Balaji Mohan said the track was designed to capture the contrast between a familiar family world and a fantasy space where events can take unexpected turns. He described the music as carrying “a little mystery… a sense of playfulness, and something slightly mischievous”, and added that the same mixture runs through the film itself.

Why the timing matters

The song lands just before Dussehra, one of the more dependable windows for family entertainment. Hindi film campaigns have long treated music as the most shareable part of a release, and streaming has made that even more direct: a track can now build familiarity for a theatrical title without giving away a single scene.

A theme song for a fantasy film is therefore closer to an audio trailer than to a conventional romantic single. It communicates tone, not plot. The choral, desi-flavoured arrangement on The World of Mohini signals a broad family play rather than a darker genre exercise, and the title itself does casting work: Mohini is presented as the world to be explored, not simply the heroine inside it.

The benefit of a theme song at this stage is that it gives the campaign a second piece of shareable material so close to release. Audiences who hear it on a streaming platform can move directly from the track to ticket purchase, and the song’s title keeps the central character’s name in circulation.

What to know before the opening

  • The track features male chorus vocals by Sugandh Shekar, Abhijith Rao and Shridhar Ramesh, and female chorus vocals by Fathima Henna, Aishwarya Anil Kumar and Indu Sanath.
  • Balaji Mohan directs; Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma wrote the film, and Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma are the producers.
  • The cast also includes Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee, Prateek Pachori, Akshat Singh, Babita Pandey, Ajay Pal and Neeraj Singh.
  • The World of Mohini is available on Amazon Music, Apple Music, JioSaavn and YouTube Music.
  • Nayyi Navelli opens across India on 16 October, ahead of Dussehra.

For readers who follow release calendars closely, the watch item is whether the tone promised by the theme—warm, playful and slightly mischievous—translates into opening-weekend interest. The track answers part of that question early, even while the film itself holds back its twists.
