Drishyam 3 crosses ₹214 cr in 5 days, eyes franchise record

Five days in, Drishyam 3 has collected ₹214.63 crore net in India, posted Ajay Devgn's biggest opening and is closing on Drishyam 2's lifetime record.

Drishyam 3 nears franchise record after ₹214.63 cr five-day run

Five days into its run, Drishyam 3 has crossed the ₹214 crore mark in net domestic collections, putting the Ajay Devgn-led thriller within reach of the highest box office score in its franchise. Trade figures from Sacnilk put the five-day India net at ₹214.63 crore.

How the five days moved

The film opened at ₹62 crore on Friday, slipped to ₹53.50 crore on Saturday and recovered to ₹61 crore on Sunday, when occupancy touched 56%. The weekday slowdown followed: Monday brought ₹21 crore, and Tuesday added ₹17.13 crore at 22% occupancy, a fall of roughly 18% from Monday.

For a sequel built on suspense, the telling number is not only the opening but the Tuesday floor, which shows how much demand survives after the holiday rush.

A franchise, measured

  • First Drishyam lifetime: ₹102.75 crore — Drishyam 3 has already more than doubled it.
  • Drishyam 2 lifetime: ₹239.67 crore — the immediate benchmark in sight.
  • Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior lifetime: ₹279.59 crore — Ajay Devgn’s highest net grosser to date.

Box office watchers will track two numbers from here: whether Week 1 closes above the ₹239.67 crore mark that currently separates Drishyam 3 from its predecessor’s record, and how much of Ajay Devgn’s audience stayed beyond the first weekend. The second number determines the first.

The opening that reset Ajay’s bar

The ₹62 crore first day is the biggest opening of Ajay Devgn’s career, ahead of the ₹43.50 crore opening of Singham Again. That film finished at ₹247.86 crore, while Raid 2 ended at ₹173.44 crore. Drishyam 3 has already crossed the Raid 2 lifetime and is closing in on Singham Again’s total after just five days.

What to watch next

The immediate test is the weekday hold. If Drishyam 3 keeps its weekday floor around Tuesday’s level, it can pass Drishyam 2’s ₹239.67 crore lifetime and become the top earner of the franchise. Beyond that lies Tanhaji’s ₹279.59 crore, still a considerable distance away.

The film is co-written and directed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Panorama Studios and Star Studio18. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav, and features an ending different from the Malayalam version.
