No Casualties After Film City Fire Near Two Sets

Work on two productions slowed at Mumbai’s Film City on Monday after a fire broke out near the sets of Pati Patni Aur Panga and MTV Hustle 5. Both teams confirmed that there were no casualties and that everyone was safe.

What happened on the campus

The blaze was reported outside the shooting area used by Pati Patni Aur Panga. A source from that set said no shoot was taking place when the fire began. The situation was different for the MTV Hustle 5 team: its grand finale shoot was underway, and the artists associated with the season were on set, including Badshah, EPR, MC Square, Paradox and Agsy.

Singer Nikita Gandhi’s paparazzi spotting was also happening at the location at the time, which added to the number of people in the immediate area.

“All the artists were there. The fire happened suddenly. As of now, there are no casualties and everyone is safe,” the MTV Hustle 5 team told Hindustan Times.

Why it matters

Film City is a shared production hub. A fire on one part of the campus can empty stages and halt schedules across several shows at once, even when flames never reach a set. Security may close gates, access routes may be blocked, and unconnected productions can find their call times changed. Temporary sets, lighting systems, generators and large teams are all part of an active shoot, so risk is not confined to the stage.

The stakes were raised by the Hustle 5 finale. A larger crew and a full artist lineup were present, which makes attendance and communication more complicated. The fact that the Pati Patni Aur Panga set was not shooting at the time reduced exposure there.

What we know and what remains open

  • Location: Film City, Mumbai, on Monday.
  • Productions affected: Near the sets of Pati Patni Aur Panga and MTV Hustle 5.
  • Casualties: None reported; both teams said everyone was safe.
  • Shoot status: The Hustle 5 finale was underway; Pati Patni Aur Panga was not shooting.
  • Cause: Not yet identified; sets were vacated as a precaution.

The practical takeaway for production teams is simple: treat a fire near the set as an emergency even when it appears to be outside the immediate shooting area. Evacuate, account for people, and hold the call until the cause is clear. That sequence protected this situation from becoming worse.

For now, both productions have paused in place. The next update will depend on what investigators establish about how the fire started and when the campus is cleared for work to resume.
