Drishyam The Conclusion has turned a franchise milestone into a near-term target. The Ajay Devgn film collected Rs 174 crore in its opening weekend, which puts it Rs 66.54 crore away from the lifetime total of Drishyam 2, according to latest box office data.
A weekend that covered most of the distance
The third instalment opened with Rs 62.03 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 50.95 crore on Saturday and Rs 60 crore on Sunday. The three-day total of Rs 174 crore means the film has already covered more than 72 per cent of Drishyam 2‘s lifetime business in a single weekend.
Drishyam 2 needed its entire theatrical run to reach Rs 240.54 crore. Drishyam The Conclusion has covered almost three-quarters of that distance before its first weekday even begins.
The franchise’s box office curve
The numbers show how quickly this series has expanded. The original Drishyam closed at Rs 67.13 crore. Drishyam 2 more than tripled that to finish at Rs 240.54 crore. Now the third film’s opening weekend alone has far outrun the first film’s lifetime total.
- Friday: Rs 62.03 crore
- Saturday: Rs 50.95 crore
- Sunday: Rs 60 crore
- Opening weekend: Rs 174 crore
- Gap to Drishyam 2 lifetime: Rs 66.54 crore
Front-loading versus holding
A Rs 174 crore weekend is a strong start, but the comparison with Drishyam 2 is not yet a like-for-like lifetime. Drishyam The Conclusion has compressed into three days what the previous film achieved over its full run. The test now shifts from opening demand to weekday retention.
A Saturday dip from the Friday number was followed by a Sunday recovery, which suggests the film is drawing repeat and family audiences after the opening rush. If that pattern continues into the weekdays, the remaining Rs 66.54 crore could arrive without the need for another holiday boost.
Why the next checkpoint matters
Passing Drishyam 2 would make Drishyam The Conclusion the highest-grossing film in the franchise. The remaining gap of Rs 66.54 crore is only a little above the film’s opening Friday figure, so the record is no longer a distant target.
For Hindi cinema audiences, the opening weekend is therefore less about whether the film works and more about how soon it sets a new baseline for the series.
