Veer Pahariya’s Prem Keetanu is off to a modest start. The Hindi remake of the 2024 Malayalam hit Premalu collected Rs 31 lakh net in India on its third day, according to Sacnilk, bringing its first three-day total to Rs 1.16 crore.
Gross collections stand at around Rs 1.38 crore. With a reported production budget of around Rs 3 crore, the comedy-drama still has ground to cover, and the makers have not officially confirmed the budget figure.
The numbers so far
The day-three number was down 11.4 percent from the Rs 35 lakh the film earned on day two. It arrived on October 2 in a direct clash with Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion, which is drawing a much larger share of the audience.
- Day 3 net: Rs 31 lakh
- Day 2 net: Rs 35 lakh
- Three-day net total: Rs 1.16 crore
- Three-day gross: around Rs 1.38 crore
- Reported production budget: around Rs 3 crore
A remake with recognition, not momentum
Prem Keetanu is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki and written by Deepak Kingrani. The cast includes Veer Pahariya, Aafiya Sayed, Aparshakti Khurana, Nikhil Vijay and Rakesh Bedi. Its story follows a group of college friends as they navigate love, heartbreak, family expectations and career struggles.
Hindi remakes of recent hits often arrive with familiarity, but that can cut both ways. Audiences who have seen Premalu may need a strong reason to revisit the story in a new language, particularly when a bigger commercial title is occupying screens and attention.
What the review saw
News18 Showsha gave the film 3 out of 5 stars. The review praised its self-aware tone, noting it “never loses track of its identity,” but found the soundtrack a weakness, saying the songs “strangely distract from the narrative.” The music, the review argues, works better as an album than as a storytelling device.
The first weekday numbers will now show whether Prem Keetanu can hold a small base and build word of mouth, or fade further behind Drishyam. For a film with a reported Rs 3 crore cost, a stable first week is the clearest path to recovery.
