The makers of the sports movie 83 starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have finally revealed the new release date of the film. Kabir Khan took to social media to announce that the film will release in cinemas on 4th June 2021.
Recently, Ranveer Singh took to his Instagram to share the poster along with the release date. He wrote, “June 4th, 2021 !!!! ?? in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. See you in cinemas !!! #thisis83”
According to a source, film 83 directed by Kabir Khan, which revolves around the Indian cricket team’s big win in the 1983 cricket world cup, will release on 4 or 11 June. The most anticipated movie of 2020 which unfortunately got pushed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 83 is co-produced by Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Sajid Nadiadwala. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role of Kapil Dev. The film also features Deepika Padukone as Romi Bhatia, Dev’s wife. Other actors include Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqeeb Salim and Boman Irani.
Director Kabir Khan shared about Deepika Padukone coming on board, he said, “I think the background, the fact that her dad, Prakash Padukone was a sports superstar, that influenced her very strongly. It wasn’t because Deepika had agreed to do the film that I wrote the role.” He further said, “Deepika liked the role, and that’s why she agreed to do the film. We never initially intended it that way (Deepika being a part of the film), and as Deepika said, there’s a certain support role that the family plays, and I wanted to capture that, which is why I wrote the character of Romi, and when I narrated it to Deepika, I knew it was a small role. So, I said to Deepika, ‘Just listen to the film. If you like it, you’ll come on board, if not, you won’t come on board. She heard the film, and she knew it was about the team and the boys and Kapil. But, she just loved the script and so, she came on board, “
