Filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah has stepped into the web space in a new medical thriller show called Human. He says the show is not about Kovid, but rather sheds light on decades-long medical tests around the world. The show stars Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari and is directed by Shah and Moaz Singh.
“The project had been in the works for about three and a half years now, and then we didn’t know about viruses and vaccines. It took us a long time to write as we tried to simplify the process of human trials. Vaccines One Kind of makes sense to the audience. Today, everyone is aware of what a drug trial means.
One wonders if the show is set against the backdrop of the coronovirus pandemic and the subsequent journey to find the vaccine and opulence make it clear that it is not set in today’s time. “It is not about coronoviruses, but about medical tests that have been around for decades now around the world. It touches a subject that is huge for humanity and the problem with drug testing is not a recent phenomenon. This is a very important subject for the society, ”he said.
Coming from a theater background, Vipul made his directorial debut as a director in 2002, Eyes Which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen and Paresh Rawal. Since then, he has done family drama and romance. And with Human, he returns to the thriller space.
The filmmaker said that the show touches a subject which is big for humanity and the problem of drug trials is not a recent phenomenon. “This is my dream project,” he smiles, adding, I used to do this kind of stuff in the theater, and with Human, I’m back to roots. This is my first time at Weapnes and it is the complete opposite. I have completed 20 years of my Hindi film career.
Regarding the characters in the series, Shah said, “It’s an interesting combo to play these writer-backed roles. It’s a new space for both Shefali and Kirti, and you’ve never seen them like this before. “
He says that the show has helped him re-connect to his roots. The show went on floors in Mumbai on January 21, and the filmmaker is set to wrap it up within a month. Moise Singh, one of the show’s many writers, is also doing human direction with Vipul, and production is done by Sunshine. It is set for a digital premiere in the summer.
