The makers of Amazon Prime Video and Tandava have been in the news ever since an FIR was filed for hurting religious sentiments. Following the series last week on Friday 15 January, IPC Section 153A (promoting enmity between groups), 295 (defining a place of worship with intent to insult religion), 505 (statement confirming public misconduct) , 469 (forgery intended to harm reputation) and a section for misuse of digital platforms. The FIR was registered at Hazratganj Police Station.
As per the latest reports, a senior official said that the four-member team reached Mumbai on Tuesday 19 January and first visited Andheri Police Station. Directed by Inspector Anil Kumar Singh, he then went to visit the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) office in search of assistance.
On January 21, the team planned to record the statements of those mentioned in the FIR, which includes Aparna Purohit, Ali Abbas Zafar, Director and Co-Producer, Himanshu Krishna Mehra, Producer, Gaurav Solanki, an Amazon Prime Video official . Author among others.
However, Justice PD Nell of the Bombay High Court granted Ali Abbas Zafar, Gaurav Solanki, Himanshu Mehra and Aparna Purohit three weeks’ advance bail. This order enables the said people to apply for advance arrest before the court.
