A day earlier, it was reported that the highly popular South Korean male group GOT7 decided to partner with its long-term agency JYP Entertainment. All the members – JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyong, Youngje, Bombam and Yujiom – decided not to renew their contract with the company after spending seven years as a group. On January 10, 2021, news came that GOT7 would perform as the group for the last time at the 2021 Golden Disc Awards, as they decide to do group activities in the future.
The official statement released by JYP Entertainment on January 11, 2021, (via Soompi) read, “Hello. This is JYP Entertainment. JYP has had in-depth discussions with GOT7 members before the expiry of their exclusive contract on January 19 .The result, both sides have agreed not to renew the contract, hoping for a new future. GOT7 performed exceptionally as a global idol group representing K-Pop since its launch on 16 January 2014 We really thank you for being a part of GOT7 as well as the growth of K-pop and JYP, as well as I GOT7 and all the fans who have been a source of inspiration for GOT7’s activities with their endless support since their debut Our official relationship ends here, but JYP will sincerely cheer for a new future. GOT7 members will move forward. “
As previously reported in Dispatch Tabloid, members want to continue as a group as well as plan future activities. JB, the leader of the group, is in talks with the hip hop label as well as a global music label. He is currently planning to find the right company that will help his solo career. Mark planned to return to Los Angeles and live with his family. He plans to launch his YouTube channel and work on his solo music in the United States. Jackson Wang, who is the CEO of the Team Wang label, will carry out his global activities under his label and work on Korean activities through a separate agency.
Jinyoung is currently in final negotiations to sign an exclusive contract with agency BH Entertainment, under which the popular actor. Youngze has reportedly been approached for well-known names such as Sublime Artist Agency, Song Kang Ho, Ren, Exids Hani, and more. The agency has confirmed that they are in talks with him. Bombam will try to balance its work with the help of a content production agency between South Korea and Thailand. He is reportedly in talks with MakeUs Entertainment. Finally, Yugyeom is in the final stages of signing a contract established by singer, songwriter, and rapper Jay Park with AOMG, South Korean hip-hop and R&B record label, a JYPE alum.
Mark, the eldest member of GOT7, chose to be the first to talk about the group parting ways with his agency, but assured that they would continue to present their best to fans. “The last 7 years have been the best years of my life. Nothing is happening, just the beginning. The seven of us are going to continue to bring you the best version of us to the end. # GOT7FOREVER.” He wrote on Twitter. The same photo was posted by all members with the hashtag #GOTForever.
GOT7 released its last LP be released ‘Breast of Love: Last Peace’ November 30, 2020 with two music videos – ‘Breath’ And ‘Last piece’.
